There are a number of ways to obtain MTR as it is used as gas when playing on Meter. First of all, MTR is listed on both centralized and decentralized exchanges.
- Centralized exchanges:
- Decentralized exchanges:
Obtaining MTR on one of the centralized exchanges requires creating an account, but allows for fiat or a supported token to be used to trade for MTR. Obtaining MTR on a decentralized exchange requires already having at least a small amount of MTR for the swaps.
Meter also has a Swap for Gas page where ETH on Ethereum or MTRG (Meter Governance) can be swapped for MTR with only a 3% fee.
Finally, Meter also has their own cross chain bridge that supports BNB chain, Ethereum, Avax, Meter, Moonriver, Theta, Moonbeam, and Polygon.
What is wonderful about this cross chain bridge is that whenever a token is bridged into Meter, a small amount of MTR is airdropped into the bridging wallet on Meter as well. A user looking to start playing on Meter who already has assets on BNB chain may consider the following to get started:
- Use the Meter Passport to bridge over some BUSD allowing for enough MTR to be added to their wallet for their first couple of transactions
- Use Voltswap to trade the BUSD for additional MTR
